Fiction Index

This is a complete and detailed listing of all the Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel fan fiction by Peasant. The stories are mostly set in the nineteenth century and are about the fanged four, concentrating mainly on Spike or rather William the Bloody as he was known to his enemies, Will to his family. I write about his relationship with Angelus, Darla, and Dru; a motley crew of minions; various other people, demons and vampires he met; and how he learnt to be a vampire in Victorian England.

Butterfly Catchers

I had wanted for a long time to write a story about Angelus hunting, but also about his relationship with the church. This is the result.

This story is available as either a single file or in individual parts.

  1. Part I: The Butterfly
  2. Part II: The Moth
  3. Part III: Angelus’s Study
  4. Part IV: Grayling
  5. Part V: The Mill
  6. Part VI: Sketching
  7. Part VII: The Impresario
  8. Part VIII: Camberwell Beauty
  9. Part IX: Manoeuvres
  10. Part X: Boar Hunt
  11. Part XI: Evivva Il Coltello!
  12. Part XII: Pianoforte
  13. Part XIII: Pig in the Middle
  14. Part XIV: Check
  15. Part XV: The Schoolroom
  16. Part XVI: The Soaring Perpendicular
  17. Part XVII: Mr Denman’s Instruction
  18. Part XVIII: The Practice Room
  19. Part XIX: Coda

Chevachee

I wrote this because I wanted a good adventure story about why Angelus was called the Scourge of Europe; but also because I have always felt that being a vampire must be harder than Joss sometimes makes it seem. Of course I then saw Fool for Love for the first time whilst halfway through writing it.

From time to time I just get very silly and write something daft. This seems to be one of those times. Mildly inspired by the quite extraordinary amount of clutter the Victorians kept in their drawing-rooms.

Giving Him The Moon

This is all because I started to wonder how a race whose conversation mainly consisted of ‘Like to crush. Crush now,’ had the words to allow Giles to say things like ‘You’re just a little overwrought,’ and ‘it’s perfectly serviceable.’ Mind you, I have never known a language, however barbaric, that the person trying to get you to like it didn’t claim was the most beautiful and poetic tongue on the planet.

Good Fairy

Victorian stories have something of an obsession with people drinking absinthe. Ah, absinthe! La Fée Verte – the green fairy, the opalescent liquor, the verdant demon, a swirling fog of mesmeric imagery leading us into a whirlpool of decadence. Except that in England the average man was far more likely to feel the wrath of the temperance movement, or Blue Ribboners as they were derisively known, just for taking a few glasses of beer, than to ever come across absinthe. But who am I to buck a trend?

The Greatest of These New

For years I have had this image in my mind of a small girl being escorted to take up her first post in the vampires’ household, because it was such an obvious and simple way to hunt. Millie never quite made it properly onto the page though because I always found Darla so hard to write. Until one day I began to realize that for many Victorian women the key to an autonomous and meaningful existence was charity, and the opportunities for independent action that it gave them.

The Sheet Anchor

This was written in response to several of the things that really annoy me in historical fan fiction. I also didn’t see why, just because I saw The Initiative long before I wrote any fic, I shouldn’t be allowed to write the old canon Spike. You know the sort of thing: where you don’t have to be sending Dru up to bed without any supper all the time, just so he and Angelus can have some quality time together. You can have fun spotting all my anachronisms.

This is the big one, the one I suppose I wanted to write as soon as I saw Fool for Love, to try and reconcile William and Spike. It came out a little longer than I was expecting, though.

Thank You

After I wrote Schoolboy, Hannalee wanted to read Spike remembering to thank Angelus; myself, I’d always considered the gem of Amarra incident as that, but if a beta reader commands… This was the only way I could think of for him to do so. Blame her and all the other people who demanded a sequel.

Wild Demonic Fauna

This was written to thank Noone for all her hard work on Sweet William, and also to finally get out of my head some of my mad theories about vamp ecology. (Please note that there is one deliberate anachronism in this story, so all praise for anyone who spots it. And as always I will be grateful to anyone who points out any unintentional mistakes to me. It is left to the reader to sort out which is which.)

This story is available as either a single file or in individual parts.

Disclaimer

Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel, and all the characters in them, are the property of Joss Whedon, Mutant Enemy, Twentieth Century Fox, the WB, UPN, and just about everybody else on the planet except me. I acknowledge this fully; and I promise I’m only playing with them without hope of profit. I will put them back in the box carefully when I’m done and apologise if they got a bit hurt while I was using them. But come on, they are vampires, they can probably take it.
